I was commissioned to create an original artwork for Machani group, Bangalore inspired by one of the 8 avatars of Goddess Lakshmi. I chose the avatar Vidya Lakshmi which depicts the goddess of knowledge and education of the arts and sciences. She is depicted in a certain manner, with a traditional white sari, carrying two lotuses in both hands and the other two hands in Abhaya mudra and Varada mudra (hand gestures).
The client was keen on having an intricate, detailed style of illustration layered with rich colours and textures. I tried to bring depth to the artwork using pens of different line weights. The artwork was digitally coloured in Adobe Photoshop.
